About the Artist

Kreg McCune is a studio potter who works in stoneware and porcelain at his home on Mt. Desert Island, Maine.  After years of working with cob as a building material in the high desert of New Mexico, Kreg turned his attention to the smaller works of fine craft that a potter's wheel and a mound of clay can create.

As a respectful steward of the natural world Kreg brings to his work a sensibility toward the simple, timeless and artful lines and tones that reconnect us to the planet and our common human heritage.  He strives to craft functional pots that are beautiful both alone and in combination with one another. He holds a deep belief that in our age of mass production, it is both radical and deeply important to use objects envisioned and created by human hands as part of our most basic and fundamental aspects of daily life.

Kreg currently resides on Mt. Desert Island, Maine in an 1885 New England Farmhouse with his wife and two sons.  His studio is open by appointment.
